Exhibition “Wet eyes”

„Learn to swim – water will become your friend – learn to dive – start loving the water! “is the motto of the event. The exhibition is introducing underwater life that can be seen when you dive.

All the photos are taken by Kaido Haagen in Estonia so they are demonstrating Estonian flora and fauna. Among the others it is possible to see a photo about which the Finnish nature photographers have said: „Sellaista kuvaa ei ole otettu Itämerelää ennen“(this kind of photo hasn’t been taken before in Baltic Sea).

The exhibition has an extraordinary location: you can admire the pictures underwater in the pool. The idea is to present the photos in a similar environment to where the photos are taken. To show the exhibition to as many people as possible the exhibition will be visiting the biggest pools in Estonia.

The exhibition travels from October to March and visits all counties so the people of Loo, Viimsi, Tabasalu, Rakvere, Jõhvi, Narva, Türi, Jõgevamaa, Tartu, Põlva, Võru, Karksi-Nuia, Otepää, Viljandi, Pärnu, Raplamaa, Haapsalu, Käina, Kuressaare and Keila (the places may change) will be visited.

The author of the photos, Kaido Haagen, has proved himself as a photographer. He has been interested in underwater life for many years. His photos have won awards on different international and local contests. Kaido Haagen has also organized courses on underwater photographing.

The organizer of the “Wet eyes”, Estonian Divers Club’s has several goals. Firstly to offer different and unforgettable experience in unusual environment: art that have been displayed in extraordinary surroundings. Secondly they would like to introduce diving as satisfying and wonderful hobby. That is why there will be an opportunity to try introductory diving once a week in each location. The further goal is to raise people’s awareness in environment and safety. Every diver knows that underwater we are only visitors: nothing will be touched or disturbed and nothing will be left behind. Safety is not less important. Diving gives a person an ability to control himself/herself underwater.

Diving is a hobby that fascinates many people all over the world. Person who has felt the freedom to swim as a fish and to see the beautiful underwater life will be hooked forever.
